 About Me:

My name is Amber Flowers and I am 25 years old. I reside in Glasgow, KY (USA) with my Husband, two children and several pets. I've shot primarily landscapes and nature shots for the last few years, but have recently decided to do more portaits. I'm looking for some unique models to help me improve my portfolio. I am a location based lifestyle photographer and not currently working from a studio. I am planning to open a studio from my home sometime in the next year-two years. I'd love to meet other photographers and also people willing to model on a paid or TFCD (trade for CD) basis. I also am interested in modeling for other photographers (Click here for more photos) or doing freelance work.

Contact me I look forward to meeting you! Go to my Links to connect with me on twitter, facebook, myspace or and learn more about me!

Photography Experience

My journey with photography started in my childhood, with a Kodak 110, which I still have today. Just like then, I carry my camera with me everywhere. I have self-taught myself various photography methods and Photoshop techniques that enable me to be a creative photographer. I made the transition from film to digital in 2003 with a small Canon A70. In 2007 I did two photoshoots for a local band (Anonymous) and after the success bought a Canon S5IS and started to reserch DSLR's. I also brought Soul Gaze Photography online seeking opinions and critiques to improve my work. I eventually discovered infrared photography and researched how to do it.  I purchased a Hoya RM72 filter and after many successful shots, was instantly addicted. In 2009 I bought my first DSLR a Nikon D40 in order to take better photos while still being able to do infrared (not all cameras are sensitive to infrared). While using it, I've learnt that there will always be something to learn as a photographer. Currently I photograph anything and everything that interests me. Infrared photography is still my favorite style. As a result I have spent alot of time traveling to various locations to capture some unique infrareds. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Besides my love for photography, I have 5 years customer service experience from my time at Wal-Mart. I worked in: Pets, Jewelry, Service Desk, fitting room/store phone and as the store's Risk Control Team Leader. I strived to make customers happy and made many loyal customers while working my way towards entry into the management program. I learned a lot during my five years there, but always knew that regardless of my goals in the company, art and photography have always been my passion and a part of who I am. I am no longer working for Walmart as of 2009 and am now focusing on my photography and raising my two children.

Goals for Soul Gaze Photography

  • I want my photography to mean something to someone. I would like for it to help and inspire people to be more creative in their daily lives.
  • I've ran across alot of people that say they can't afford expensive photo sessions. I want to help them afford the important photographic memories of their family.
  • After spending several years doing animal rescue, I want to help shelters keep their photos up to date to give these animals a better chance at being rescued into a loving home.
  •  The main dream I have is to be a storm chaser for either NWS or TWC and photograph severe weather and tornadoes. I was terrified of storms as a child, but over the years began to research them. Learning about storms made me less afraid and I am now a weather addict. I have a folder for Storm Photos in my gallery and links to weather websites on my Links page

If you're reading this and have a desire for weather photography, just remember the most important part: SAFETY! When photographing lighting, set your camera on a tripod and use a remote rather than remaining with your camera. Lighting can travel over large distances and call kill or permanently paralyze you. If you'd rather have more control, photograph in your car, but leave your windows up don't touch anything! It's still dangerous in your car, but still safer than being outside exposed.
